Intel

This Intel page is a collection of aircraft, air defense vehicles and terrains. This page is inclusive to both DCS and BMS. If there are differences for a specific threat between platforms, that information will be annotated on the specific threat page. While DCS does not have a comprehensive threat guide and only provides limited information, the information presented has been collected from a number of sources. These include, BMS Threat Guide, Wikipedia, DCS Encyclopedia and numerous other sources. If during a mission you realize that any of the information is off or just downright wrong, reach out to Wing Leadership and we will update it as required. Obviously, this is a simulation and these numbers can be off and sometimes missile behavior won’t be what we expect. Use this information to help with your briefings and known threats in the AO. Many thanks to TeeSquare for the countless hours that went into gathering information!

Low Blow Main Image

RADAR d. S(SNR)-125 “Low Blow” (SA-3 Track Radar)

Russian designator: S-125 “Newa” (Kabina UNW) Low Blow is the NATO reporting name given to a family of I-band radars used with land-based SA-3 “Goa” surface-to-air missiles. The name Low Blow reflects the ability of the radar to guide the missile towards low-flying targets through heavy clutter. It use pairs of electromechanically scanning (so-called Lewis scanner) antennas mounted…

Fan Song Main Image

RADAR b. SNR-75 “Fan Song” (SA-2 Track Radar)

Fan Song E is a missile control radar operating in frequency band G, associated with the SA-2E Guideline Mod 4. The main differences to the predecessor “Dwina” (Fan Song B) are the frequency of the radiation from the Lewis scanners and the fan beam (and hence the sector dimensions). The beams in Fan Song E are about 7.5° wide in the fan…

RADAR f. ST-68U “Tin Shield” (SA-5 Search Radar)

The ST-68U (Russian designation: 19Sh6; Cyrillic: 19Ж6; NATO code: “Tin Shield”) was a medium-range 3D air defense radar in the former Warsaw Pact countries. It was designed for the detection and tracking of targets at low altitudes under conditions of active and passive interference with strong ground reflection and under difficult meteorological conditions. The radar used a frequency-controlled…
